Step 1: G1 Licence (Beginner Level)

In Ontario, you must be at least 16 years old to obtain a licence.

  1. Get a Driver's Handbook, which is accessible at any bookstore, convenience shop, MTO facility, and other sites.

  2. After studying the handbook, travel to the nearest DriveTest Centre and take a theoretical G1 exam.

  3. Pay the fee and show two pieces of identification.

  4. Once you pass the exam, you will be given a G1 license, and you will be eligible to do a practical road test (G2) 12 months from that date.

Restrictions:

  • Must drive with a fully licensed driver (G licence, 4+ years experience)

  • No driving on 400-series highways

  • No driving at night (midnight–5 AM)

Step 4: G Road Test (Full License)

To take your G Road Test:

  • Ensure 12 months have passed since your G2 Road Test

  • Book the G Road Test at a DriveTest Centre

  • Pass the G Road Test

  • Receive your Full G License.

Congratulations, you are now a fully licensed and safe driver in Ontario!

Step 2: Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course

What our school offers:

  • MTO-Approved, Certified BDE Program that Includes:

    • 20 Hours of Fully Remote Theory - At Your Own Pace

    • 10 Hours of In-Car training with an experienced, MTO-Licensed Instructor

    • 10 Hours of Homework/Self-Study

    • Parking (parallel, reverse, forward)

    • Lane Changes and Intersection Safety

    • Defensive Driving

    • Risk Awareness

  • Pass the G2 road rest

  • Receive your G2 license
